Itinerary

Join us on a flowing journey where each day brings new landscapes, new elevations, and new stories - from sunrise treks on Palagruža to evening walks above Biševo’s glowing sea caves. Routes are chosen daily according to group energy, weather, and preference.
Day 1:
Welcome Aboard – Rodi Garganico to Palagruža

Your journey begins at 15:00 with check-in at the marina of Rodi Garganico, a quiet coastal gem nestled in the heart of Puglia. After meeting the crew and settling into your cabin, set sail across the shimmering Adriatic toward Palagruža, a remote island cloaked in solitude. The gentle sway of the boat and the distant horizon set the pace for the week ahead. After a 3–4 hour crossing, anchor beneath a canopy of stars in complete stillness.

Day 2:
First Steps & Long Sails – Palagruža to Lastovo

Wake early to greet the day with a gentle sunrise hike on Palagruža, tracing coastal paths that echo with the sound of waves and seabirds. Back onboard, enjoy a hearty brunch before embarking on an 8–9 hour sail to Lastovo. Arrive in the late afternoon, where you can stretch your legs again on a short guided hike into Lastovo’s untouched wilds, or enjoy a sunset walk with golden light cascading over ancient hills.

Day 3:
Rugged Heights & Ancient Echoes - Lastovo to Korčula

Spend your morning immersed in Lastovo’s rugged terrain with a scenic cliffside hike, surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, birdsong, and open sea views.

After lunch aboard, enjoy a 3-4 hour sail to Korčula, an island rich with history and dramatic ridgelines. Close the day with an evening ascent to one of the island’s southeast peaks, where panoramic views reward your efforts as the sun dips into the sea.

Day 4:
Coastal Wanderings & Cliffside Dares – Korčula to Hvar

Begin the day with a coastal trek across Korčula, tracing olive groves, fishing coves, and breezy ridges. After the hike, set sail to Hvar’s southern shore, where vertical cliffs plunge into turquoise depths. Here, you can try your hand at deep-water solo climbing or leap from sun-warmed rocks into the sea. A day that blends calm beauty with adrenaline.

Day 5:
Mountain Vistas & Sea Serenity - Hvar’s Via Ferrata

Today’s route leads skyward on Hvar’s Via Ferrata. Safely secured to steel cables, climb steep limestone walls as the island unfolds below in a patchwork of vineyards and shimmering sea. After the summit, return to the coast for a relaxed brunch and spend your afternoon snorkeling through quiet bays, where the silence of the sea soothes body and mind.

Day 6:
Lavender Paths & Cultural Shores - Hvar to Vis

Wander Hvar’s famous lavender trails, where fragrant hillsides lead to scenic lookouts and panoramic sea views. Choose between short or moderate hikes as the breeze carries herbal scents through stone villages and winding paths. In the afternoon, sail 3-4 hours to Vis, arriving in time to soak in the island’s storied charm and evening calm.

Hiking Distance: 7–11 km / 4.3–6.8 miles (elevation 300–600 m)

Day 7:
Final Footholds & Night Sails - Vis to Biševo to Rodi Garganico

Set off for a final hike on Vis, exploring ancient ruins, olive terraces, and hidden coves where history and nature converge. Then sail to nearby Biševo for a final dinner by the sea. As dusk turns to night, begin your 8-12 hour overnight crossing back to Italy, carried home by the stars and the gentle rhythm of the Adriatic.

Day 8:
Farewell Feast & Departure

Share a final breakfast with your crew and fellow hikers before disembarking at 9:00 in Rodi Garganico. With your pack full of memories and your legs still humming from the trails, say your goodbyes and begin your journey home.

What’s Included in Your Maca Adventure?

Your 8-day guided hiking adventure includes:

  • Daily guided hikes across Rodi Garganico (Italy), Palagruža, Lastovo, Korčula, Hvar, Vis, and Biševo (Croatia).
  • Accommodation aboard a premium sailing yacht or catamaran (Excess 14 “Matì” / Sun Odyssey 490 “Don Carlo”).
  • All meals listed in the itinerary: breakfasts/brunches and dinners.
  • Expert hiking guides onboard for the entire trip, including daily briefings and route adaptations.
  • Bed linens and bath towels.
  • Full onboard amenities: Wi-Fi, AC, power generator, watermaker, SUPs, snorkel gear.
  • Tender boat for beach/hiking access.
  • Technical briefings and daily itinerary support.
  • Onboard cash fund: €300 per person, payable at boarding, covering food, pantry service, bedsheets, towels, and shared onboard expenses.

How Fit Do I Need to Be?

This adventure is designed for all fitness levels, from beginners to experienced hikers. Daily hikes vary in distance and elevation and can be adjusted by our guides to suit the group’s energy, preferences, and weather. Expect terrain that ranges from gentle coastal paths to steeper inland trails. Hiking poles are recommended but optional.

What if I’ve Never Hiked Before?

No problem! Our expert guides will tailor the routes to match your ability and comfort level. Whether you’re a first-time hiker or a seasoned trekker, each day offers a supportive and inclusive environment, with opportunities to rest or push yourself as you wish.

What Do I Need to Bring?

Space is limited onboard, so pack light in a soft, foldable bag (avoid hard-shell suitcases).

Required:

  • Hiking shoes with good grip
  • Hydration pack (1.5–2L)
  • Technical outdoor clothing
  • Cap or hat
  • Lightweight windbreaker

Recommended:

  • Trekking poles
  • Buff or light scarf
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen

General Gear for All Maca Adventures:

  • Flip flops or sandals (for the boat)
  • Clean, non-marking shoes (for the deck)
  • Beach towel & personal towel
  • Swimwear, sunscreen, after-sun lotion
  • Waterproof windbreaker
  • Personal medications, power bank, small daypack
  • Pack for warm days and cool evenings, with layers for variable weather

Group Sizes, Age Requirements, Meals and Accommodation

  • Group Size: Up to 12 participants for a personalized and community-oriented adventure.
  • Guide Ratio: Expert hiking guides plus a skipper and/or tour leader onboard.
  • Age Requirements:
    • 18+ welcome.
    • Under 18: Allowed on a case-by-case basis with a parent or guardian. Please contact us before booking.
Meals and Accommodation
  • Onboard breakfast/brunch and dinners plus select local trattoria experiences.
  • Shared cabins on a spacious yacht/catamaran with bed linens and towels.

How Do I Get There?

Your adventure begins at Marina di Rodi Garganico, nestled in the heart of Gargano National Park.

Getting There:

  • By Train: Direct regional trains from Foggia, Bari, and Rome.
  • By Car: Via A14 and SS693 highways, with secure long-term parking at the marina.
  • By Shuttle (on request): Private transfers from Bari or Pescara airports/train stations available at a special price.
  • By Air: Bari (BRI) or Pescara (PSR) airports, approximately 2 hours away by car or shuttle.

Optional pre-departure accommodation is available in or near Rodi Garganico for those arriving a day early.

Payment Policies, Cancellations, and Notes

To secure your spot on this unforgettable Maca adventure, payment in full is required at the time of booking.

Cancellation Policy:

  • More than 45 days before departure: Full refund.
  • 45–30 days before departure: 50% refund.
  • Less than 30 days before departure: No refund.

Important Notes:

  • All cancellation requests must be submitted via email.
  • Payments for extras (e.g. equipment) must be settled in cash at boarding.
  • If Maca cancels: Full refund or option to transfer your payment to another trip. Maca is not responsible for additional costs like flights or accommodations.
  • Force Majeure: Refunds cannot be provided for unforeseen events (severe weather, political unrest, emergencies), but we’ll do our best to assist you in transferring your booking.

Travel and Medical Protection

Travel and medical insurance are mandatory, including coverage for freediving activities, trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and evacuation. We can help you find the right adventure travel policy to suit your needs.
